- Did you always want to be a model? Tell us about how you were discovered.
I didn’t know I wanted to be a model until I after I booked my first job. I studied lingerie design as FIT, which is what brought me to NYC. I wanted to take professional photos of my designs for my future design portfolio, and I happen to be the sample size. I started connecting with photographers to collaborate and was encouraged to do more test shoots beyond just my designs. From there, I just had fun exploring this new realm of creativity; posing in front of a camera felt very natural and intuitive to me. I started submitting to jobs and booked my first beauty gig with IT Cosmetics and the whole experience felt surreal. I didn’t even know I could be in this kind of industry, but the reward felt so worth it. As a petite model, I understood the challenges and competition but saw this as an opportunity to prove my self advocacy. Nearly two years later, I am in elbows deep and model full time and signed to two agencies.
- What are your favorite forms of self care and why?
My favorite forms of self care are rock climbing and alone time. Rock climbing is my favorite way to detach from everything else going on in my life. It’s both mentally and physically stimulating and helps me to refocus myself on my body and brain. Alone time is something I have historically struggled with; setting boundaries and knowing when to say no to plans. I love spending time alone and can do almost any experience by myself and enjoy every second. I believe learning to enjoy your own company is a great step towards self love.
- What other passions do you have aside from modeling?
I am a digital designer for a shoe company (yes I model and digital designer full time lol) and continue to design fashion. I am currently studying User Experience design to broaden my horizons with digital and product development. I find marketing and visual design incredibly interesting and will probably always pursue a career in this field. I have been making clothes since I was 10 years old and still love it. I sometimes forget how niche it is to know how to make lingerie but it’s an amazing skill I don’t take for granted.
